Perth and WA picking up but still lost in the dark

In WA, business people and company executives are aware that social media are important. They just don't know how to implement them in their marketing strategy. The good news is that in most companies, employees have a pretty good idea about how to Twitter, Facebook or watch YouTube from their office computer. The only remaining challenge: start using it in a professional way.

Today's students in WA,  at University of Western Australia, get an up to date view of e-marketing studying - or rather, working - with Jamie Murphy.  A renowned marketing expert himself, he lectures on the newest tools for online marketing. Projects include the use of Google Adwords,  Facebook, Twitter and YouTube videos. Tomorrow's marketing staff will have a university degree in internet and online marketing.

What you can learn from this week's TMI video is actually quite simple. Don't buy the first social media package that's being offered to your company. It might be a nice package of accounts, but it's like buying an empty notebook. The work still needs to be done. And when it's about video, keep it sharp, short, crisp and newsy. 90 seconds to 2 mins is the recommended length for your online video.
