UWA Professor Jamie Murphy is the co-founder and lead academic for the Google Online Marketing Challenge. His students at University of Western Australia are part of a competition uniting over 10 000 students worldwide. Their goal is to create a successful marketing campaign using Google Adwords. Meet some of tomorrow's WA's new marketing experts.
The challenge shows that tomorrow's holders of a Marketing degree will play with Google Analytics and Google Adwords, like previous generations played with...well, there's actually no comparison. In an academic environment where you download your most recent education package, and where you upload your assignments, new laws apply.
The Challenge also tells us that Google has become part of the academic content you have to study when you want to be a marketing director or assistant. In our report, discover how students create campaigns for Autism West and for Bill Kirby's swim program in Mandurah.
The Challenge also illustrates that WA has more to offer than mining and blue skies. UWA's Professor Jamie Murphy is the academic lead in this global contest, putting UWA and WA on the (Google) map in a remarkable way.

Google Online Marketing Challenge
Hi, We are a participating team of this years challenge based at ECU. I didn't realise UWA was represented in the competition either! Our client is Radiator Wetsuits (www.raditor.net ) . We created a blog and have been posting daily at www.radiatoromc.wordpress.com where we talk about useful tools, our challenges experienced and the takeaways from the project. I think it would be good for ECU teams and UWA teams to merge and network. I have also created a LinkedIn group based around the challenge to help networking opportunities here http://bit.ly/ayfJeG All UWA teams get in touch and let's unite and make Perth be heard in this awesome global challenge!
